So the missing money still must be in the other jacket, the one you were wearing yesterday!

Nowadays study abroad is very popular. Even some primary school students, whose families are well off, are studying abroad, let alone university students and postgraduates. Studying abroad can widen one's view and help learn about the cultures of foreign countries. Of course, it's a good way to learn foreign languages. But study abroad is not suitable for everyone because of the high cost, fees. If a student's family can't support him , he has to struggle in a foreign country just for a living not for his studies. I think he needn't go abroad. He can study well in China.
So study abroad is one way but not the only way to one's education and success.

出国
如今，出国留学已成为一种潮流，甚至一些家庭条件比较富裕的小学生也出国留学，更不用说大学生和一些研究生了。出国留学能开阔一个人的视野，帮助了解外国的文化。 当然，对学习外语更有好处。但是，由于高昂的花费和学费，并不是人人都适合出国留学。如果一个学生的家庭付不起这些钱的话，他必须在国外努力工作来换取学费，这样却耽误了学业，我认为他就不必要硬要出国了，他完全可以在国内学得很好的。
因此，对于一个人的教育与成功来说， 出国留学是一种出路，但并不是惟一的出路。

I'm writing to tell you something about the problem of food safety.
A couple of days ago, one of my classmates bought a bag of food from a supermarket. Some roommates were invited to enjoy the food.Unfortunately, after finishing it, all of their faces got pale and had stomachaches. They were quickly sent to a nearby hospital. A doctor examined them and gave them some medicine. They were out of danger soon after taking the medicine.
This accident made me realize the seriousness of the food safety problem. I sincerely hope that the whole society pay much more attention to food safety.

One day three men got a bottle of wine. But the wine was not enough for them three and each of them wanted to drink the wine alone. Then they all agreed that they each would draw a snake on the ground and the one who first finished drawing would be given the wine. So they began to draw on the ground with sticks.

One clay, a monkey and a gorrila were playing by the side of a river. The monkey noticed a tree with plenty of peaches on the small island across the river. How he wished to have a good taste! But he could not swim across the river. Suddenly a good idea came upon his mind. He asked the gorilla to help him lay a long stick across the river so that they could share the peaches together. Dear editor,
Recently, our class have had a heated discussion about whether the Beijing Zoo should be moved out of the city. Someof my classmates are in favour of the move. They say large crowds of tourists to the zoo will result in traffic jams. They also say that once moved ,animals will have more space and better living conditions in the suburbs.
However, other students are against the idea, saying that the Beijing Zoo, built in 1906, has a history of 100 years, and is well-known at home and abroad. So it should remain where it is.
What's more, moving may cause the death of some animals.
To move or not, this is a big decision which has to be made by people in Beijing.

然而，一部分同学反对迁出。他们说，北京动物园自1906年建立以来已有100年的历史，在国内外享有盛誉，不应当迁出。而且，迁出会造成一些动物的死亡。
北京动物园是否应迁出市区，这是北京人必须作出的一个大的决定。

Should students make friends on line?
Some people say yes. The Intemet helps students make many friends. Chatting on line, students can express their feelings and opinions more freely, and even get help with their foreign language studies.
Others, however, think students should not make friends on line.They say it is a waste of time. Besides, some students get cheated on line.
It is my opinion that students should place their study, health and safety before other things. As for friendship, we can readily find it in our classmates and other people around us.

一些人认为可以。因特网可以帮助学生交到许多朋友。通过网上聊天，学生们可以更自由地表达他们的情感和自己的观点，甚至可以帮助学习外语。

Dear editor,
I'm writing to tell you about the discussion we recently had about whether our parents should accompany us studying at school.
We do have different opinions on this matter. Most of us (about 70% )think our parents should not accompany us studying at school since it make us fall into the habit of dependence, so that we won't form the good habit of studying. What's more, it is harmful for us to form the habit of controlling ourselves. At the same time it affects our parents' work, studies and rest.
While about 30% of my classmates think it necessary for our parents to accompany us studying at school. Accompanying us studying at school can let us have more time to study. Besides, we shall be
more healthy with their care. On the other hand our parents can help us set up our aim, urge us to finish our task, encourage us to overcome difficulties and get us into the good habit of studying.

We meet smokers everywhere. There are 6.5 billion people in the world, and about 1.2 billion of them are smokers, which make up to 20 percent of the world's total population.
Smoking is very harmful. First, smoking costs a great deal of money. It wastes 200 billion dollars each year in the world. Second,smoking does harm to the health of smokers and even the people near them. About 3 million people die of diseases caused by smoking every year.
Luckily, more and more people have come to realize the great harm of smoking. To our delight the total amount of world tobacco production has dropped from over 14 billion pounds in 2000 to 7 billion pounds in 2003. It is certain that the number of smokers will further decrease gradually.

吸烟与健康
吸烟者到处可见。世界上有65亿人口，吸烟者占12亿，占世界总人口的20％。
吸烟有害。首先，吸烟需要花费大量金钱。全世界每年需要浪费掉2 000亿美元。其次，吸烟对吸烟者和他周围的人有害，每年大约有300万人死于因吸烟而引起的疾病。

Thanks to the Hope Project r, great changes have taken place in a country school,
This school used to be called Lijiazhuang School. Most of its pupils left school because their families were too poor to pay for their education. The only unsafe schoolhouse had to be used as classrooms.And all the teachers shared one room. The playground was nothing but an open land.
Things are different now. All the children who left school have come to continue their studies. In the schoolyard stands a two-storeyed teaching building. There are rooms for music, art and com-
puter teaching. The school is well equipped with sports goods.
The Project benefits the school a great deal. For this reason, it was renamed Hope School.

希望学校
多亏希望工程的实施，一所乡村学校发生了巨大的变化。
以前这学校叫做李家庄小学。由于家庭困难交不起学费，大部分学生辍学了。那座仅有的危房要用来做教室，所有的教师们共住一间。操场上除了空地什么也没有。
现在情况可不同了乙辍学儿童都回校继续学习。一座双层的教学楼矗立在校园内，有音乐室、美术室，还有教学用的电脑室。学校的体育器材配备精良。
希望工程给李家庄小学带来了极大的好处，学校也因此改名为“希望小学”。
